It was first published on 15th August, 1938, a few years after Independence of India from British colonial rule. It claims to be unbiased and fearless by presenting facts and news articles without any distortion or manipulation. It was started by Ramnath Goenka in Chennai.
Andhra Prabha features special sections like Sahiti Gavaksham, Chintana, Life, Kulasa, ChitraPrabha, Bala Prabha, Sirigamulu, Mini Weekly (Sunday edition), e.t.c. All these characteristics and features made it one of the successful Telugu dailies in the state.
